RALEIGH

Legal Recruiting Assistant
 
The Raleigh office of Williams Mullen (www.williamsmullen.com) is currently seeking a Legal Recruiting Assistant. The successful candidate will coordinate interviews and activities related to attorney recruiting for the Raleigh office, assist with the organization and planning of the summer associate program (i.e. events, assignments, etc.), lateral recruiting and attorney orientation. Responsibilities will include the following: receiving and reviewing incoming entry level and lateral candidate resumes; traveling to accompany attorneys to on-campus interviews; responding to applicant inquiries; drafting student correspondence (i.e., offer and decline interview letters); coordinating interview schedules (preparing candidate interview packages and coordinating on campus interview registration/resume screening with law schools; maintaining relationships with law school placement offices); compiling information for NALP; maintaining recruitment database; preparing and processing candidate travel expenses; maintaining and processing fee agreements with search firms; other duties related to attorney recruiting as assigned. This position will report to the Manager of Legal Recruiting in Richmond. Experience - Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor's degree with at least two years of experience in a recruiting-related area, preferably within a law firm environment. Must have strong customer service and interpersonal skills with proficiency in MS Word and Excel. Experience with viRecruit a plus. RICHMOND

Legal Secretary

Seeking a self-motivated legal secretary for the position of practice support legal secretary with the ability to work in a fast-paced legal environment. Candidate must have extensive secretarial experience in a legal environment; at least two years litigation experience preferred. Position requires typing 75+ wpm, have strong software skills in Windows 2000, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and the ability to learn new software rapidly. Candidate must also be detail-oriented, well organized and able to handle multiple priorities.


*NEW* Professional Development Coordinator

Williams Mullen is seeking a Professional Development Coordinator for its Richmond office to join its professional development team, which focuses on the development, integration, retention and career development of its attorneys. This position reports to the Director of Professional Development, Diversity and Legal Recruiting. Primary responsibilities include helping the Director and departmental leaders to develop, implement and manage the professional development curriculum, including coordinating speakers and instructors, scheduling programs, promoting events; developing and implementing orientation for new hires; assisting the Director with annual evaluation process; coordinating and supporting the firm's mentoring program; maintaining firm statistical data; and coordinating CLE.

Requirements include a bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of experience in a law firm and/or two to three years of professional development experience. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated work history of working under pressure, multi-tasking and meeting deadlines with close attention to detail; demonstrated work history of applying discretion and independent judgment to solving problems; flexibility to work additional hours and ability to travel to other offices for programming.

Legal Secretary
 
Seeking a self-motivated legal secretary with the ability to work in a fast-paced legal environment. Candidates must possess at least three years of legal secretarial experience within a large law firm with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and computer file management system, possess an accurate typing speed of 65+ wpm with solid grammar skills. Experience in Business, Corporate Finance/Securities, Public Finance, Trust/Estates, Maritime, Litigation (employment, commercial, personal injury) most desirable.



WASHINGTON, DC

*NEW*Manager of Attorney Integration and Career Development

Williams Mullen is seeking a Manager of Attorney Integration and Career Development to join its professional development team, which focuses on the development, integration, retention and career development of its attorneys. The position is available for its Washington, DC or Northern Virginia office, and the role is firm-wide in scope with a direct report to the Director of Professional Development, Diversity and Legal Recruiting. Primary responsibilities include the design and implementation of firm-wide practice group-based and office-based substantive skills training and development programs for associates that meet professional, business and client service goals; working with the Director to design and implement associate career development systems; leading the design and implementation of lateral associate and partner integration programs, and working with the practice group chairs and partners to ensure successful execution of these programs; working with firm members to ensure associates receive appropriate on-the-job training and making recommendation to improve work assignment and tracking systems; assisting in the continuing development and implementation of the mentoring program, including assignments and monitoring of the relationships; coaching and counseling associates regarding career development, integration into the firm and ways to become successful attorneys; managing firm-wide CLE programming, ensuring appropriate in-house opportunities; working with the Director to design and implement associate business development programs; working with the legal recruiting department to deliver annual first year and new lateral attorney orientation programs; collaborating from time to time with other firm administrative departments; providing supervision and direction to the Professional Development Coordinator.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree; a minimum of five years of related experience in a large law firm; excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to work autonomously and as a team leader; ability to work collaboratively with professional development and legal recruiting teams; prior experience with CLE; willingness to travel to other offices and be a firm-wide presence. A JD is strongly preferred, and previous experience as a practicing attorney is a plus.
