Williams Mullen Maupin Taylor and Hughes Pittman & Gupton to Host Seminar
May 31, 2007
Raleigh, NC - Williams Mullen Maupin Taylor and Hughes Pittman & Gupton announced today that they are hosting a seminar on June 15, 2007 on strategies for developing business in China. In partnership with the North Carolina Chinese Business Association (NCCBA) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, these firms will provide an educational overview to North Carolina companies on the resources and tools available to them to help perfect a strategic plan for exporting and/or doing business in China.
One main goal of this program is to close the gap that exists between larger corporations and small to medium sized businesses in their access to information and resources necessary to compete globally and specifically in the world's largest marketplace of China. "NCCBA sees this program as an opportunity to share our knowledge and access with North Carolina businesses who are interested in a China strategy and have found the process daunting or who see China entry unattainable," said YanChing Zhang, President of the North Carolina Chinese Business Association.
A panel formed of a delegation of legal and accounting advisors just returning from China will discuss the country's current business climate and culture. Participants will also receive valuable information on preferred corporate and tax structures for China operations, how to mitigate the risks of operating in China, and participate in a case-study presented by a successful multinational company based in NC that is currently operating in China as well as exporting to China. All participants will also be invited to attend a reception on the evening of Thursday, June 14th at the Ingram Collection, private Porsche museum in Durham. Seminar attendees will have the opportunity to meet representatives from some of the state's larger corporations and state and federal government agencies.
