RICHMOND, VA – Williams Mullen announced today that Linda F. Rigsby has joined the firm as of counsel and director of client relations for the financial services industry. In this role, Ms. Rigsby works with banks, other financial institutions and attorney teams to address legal issues in the financial services arena. She brings more than 25 years of experience to the position as both a banking insider and corporate attorney.

Ms. Rigsby began her career in 1981 as a trusts and estates attorney. In 1985, she joined Crestar Financial Corporation as deputy general counsel and corporate secretary. Ms. Rigsby stayed with the organization following its acquisition by SunTrust Banks, Inc., rising to the position of senior vice-president and deputy general counsel until her retirement in 2006. She was responsible for the fiduciary and real estate legal teams for SunTrust in its nine-state footprint. She also managed the SunTrust Mid-Atlantic Legal Department, which handles retail and commercial bank matters in North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Her responsibilities included management of outside counsel relationships, major defendant litigation, and a multi-million dollar annual legal budget for SunTrust Mid-Atlantic.

Ms. Rigsby is licensed to practice in Virginia and the District of Columbia. She regularly holds leadership roles in legal, community and business organizations. She received her J.D. degree from the University of Richmond School of Law and her B.M. degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.
