Reported by National Survey of US Law Firms
November 30, 2007
RICHMOND, VA –Williams Mullen has been identified by the National Law Journal as one of the "Top 10 Growth Leaders," based on its annual survey of U.S. law firms, the NLJ 250. Organic growth, coupled with the March 2007 merger of Williams Mullen with Raleigh, N.C.-based Maupin Taylor, P.A., resulted in a 28.7 percent increase in the firm's number of attorneys.
"The firm's long-term strategic plan for increasing our number of attorneys has been fueled by the demands of our clients. Our merger with Maupin Taylor increased Williams Mullen's pool of seasoned attorneys by more than 40 and created one of the largest law firms in the southeast," said Williams Mullen President and CEO Joey Smith.
According to the survey, the legal industry overall experienced its largest expansion since 2001. The results were based on attorney census information covering the period between Oct. 1, 2006, and Sept. 30, 2007, which was provided by the nation's 300 largest law firms.
