Leading Corporate Attorneys Join Williams Mullen from Helms Mulliss & Wicker

March 11, 2008

RALEIGH, NC — Williams Mullen today announced that David F. Paulson, Jr., Aaron G. Spencer and Galen E. Boerema have joined the firm’s corporate practice in its Raleigh office. This well-respected team of lawyers comes to Williams Mullen from Helms Mulliss & Wicker, where Paulson served as managing partner of the Raleigh office, head of the firm’s health care industry group, and leader of the Raleigh M&A, private equity and business practice.

“As a team, we were attracted to Williams Mullen’s very strong commitment to the region and outstanding reputation as a top law firm for business in North Carolina,” said Paulson. “We also saw in Williams Mullen an exceptionally well-managed and diversified firm that combines the personal attention of a small firm with the depth and breadth of experience and resources of a much larger one. This is exactly what we want for our clients, and we think that it is unique in this legal market. It quickly became apparent that Williams Mullen was the number one option.”

“We see this as an exciting time for Williams Mullen in North Carolina,” commented Randy Lickey, firm-wide chair of the corporate practice group. “The quality of this team, when added to the attorneys and practices already in place at Williams Mullen, enhances our position as a “go-to” firm for clients seeking sophisticated business counsel. It also further demonstrates our commitment to growth in this market and confirms that we are viewed as a “come to” firm by talented attorneys seeking a firm that can meet the needs of their business clients.”

One year after the merger with established North Carolina law firm Maupin Taylor, Williams Mullen continues to expand in North Carolina, adding to the firm’s roster of business attorneys in Raleigh, as well as in its Wilmington and Research Triangle Park offices.
